In spring 2008 the Gold Country chapter of LMV began a program called Adopt A Pueblo, which seeks to unite community organizations with specific villages in Mexico. Organizations like Rotary Clubs and Lions Clubs can decide to help fund part of the cost of sending personnel abroad to work in medical and dental clinics, allowing LMV to expand the number of missions undertaken and people helped. These organizations receive a certificate of appreciation from the village and a year-long membership to LMV, during which individuals from those groups can choose to participate more fully by attending chapter meetings and working at clinics. Cory was a dedicated pilot who supported the Reno chapter and flew some missions in our behalf.
Making a living as a pilot has always been touch and go particularly when one starts flying as a career. Cory did what he could and always supported us.

Recently, LMV was invited to partner with the Auburn Lions Club on a project called the Folsom Prison Project for the Visually Impaired. Lions International collects eyeglasses in hundreds of intake bins. Next, these eyeglasses are taken to the Folsom prison, where they are repaired, cleaned, and labeled. Finally, LMV takes them to our clinics in Mexico, Southeastern California and Latin America, where villagers can get their eyesight tested and get fitted for a pair of glasses. Thank you to the Auburn Lions for establishing such an effective program!
