Building of Casa Hogar, Ensenada

Led by dedicated volunteers Larry Tabor, DDS and Bill Rush, Pilot, the Casa Hogar project resulted in the building of an orphanage, school, and clinic just south of Ensenada, Mexico. Collaborating in this effort with Larry and Bill were Auburn and Grass Valley Rotary Clubs and Los Médicos Voladores.

 

Oasis Clinics

LMV is a leading participant in twice-yearly Oasis clinics in the Coachella Valley of southeast California. We provide free medical, dental and optometric services to more than 1000 patients per clinic.
 

Trip to Abreojos, Nov 2009

Hosted by LMV member Dr. Craig Huenergardt in his home/clinic, LMV conducted a very successful 2-day dental clinic in Punta Abreojos, Baja California Sur. In addition to fillings, extractions and other dental care provided to 39 patients by Dr. Huenergardt, two new LMV dental hygienists conducted much-needed dental cleanings. An LMV clinic is an amazing experience. Sites vary significantly, from a mayor's house, to a school, town hall or church, to an existing town clinic opened to LMV doctors so that we can provide services the town doctor doesn't offer. Each site provides a different challenge: no electricity, poor sanitation, no dental chair or exam table. LMV addresses all these and more through a basic process of planning, setup, operation, and cleanup.

Trip to Guatemala, Aug 2009

"The lines to get into the clinic every day were long. We saw over 1000 patients in the combined medical and dental clinics. One child was identified with a major heart defect and there was enough money in our fund to get him to Guatemala City and scheduled for heart surgery. It is nice to save some teeth but to save a life made us all feel joyful." | Full Story and Photos

3-Clinic Trip to Abreojos, Mar 2010

Five planes with 18 LMV team members converged on Punta Abreojos, Baja Sur to provide three clinics... chiropracty, optometry, and dentistry/dental hygiene. We were honored to serve 207 very appreciative patients.

Trip to San Ignacio, Sep 2009

LMV conducted a dental clinic in San Ignacio, Baja California Sur, an area that only a week before was inundated with water and mud from Hurricane Jimena. Forty-four very appreciative patients were served in the well-equipped and well-staffed Deborah Wayne Clinic. We also carried hurricane relief supplies.

 

Trip to Bahía Tortugas, May 2009

Our 4-person traveling team and 2-person local staff thoroughly enjoyed a productive and successful trip to Bahía Tortugas, Baja California Sur. We provided primary care and women's health services to over 50 patients, plus conducted a health education session.
